Social Media in a Changing World

 Sample from Syria

"Social Media  is a holy gift,'' Syrian activist chanted, ''where it can express our views freely away from the monopoly of Regime's media,'' the engineer, 23-year-old, added.

Everyone, whether they are amateurs or journalists with experience in writing reports and news articles, these contributions have had a significant impact in bringing about a revolution against traditional journalism. Digital-media experts said.

Social media now is a credible source for so many people, the bloggers too, they contribute to raise the ceiling of freedoms, despite the governments' domination to impose arbitrary practices against social media journalists and activists what makes keep blogging and using social media is a big challenge.

''Social media has been brought the Arab Spring''. Analysts said. Social media has given real meaning to the words ‘brand ambassador’ and ‘audience interaction’.

800 million person already have accounts with popular social networks like Facebook, Twitter or its Arabic sister website Artwitter, and YouTube. These sites started as tools for friends and family to stay in interested in the same issues. But they're obviously of value to journalists as well.

In the Iranian elections, June 2009, many journalists had depended on social networks, especially Twitter, in their coverage of the Iranian elections   and the subsequent demonstrations. When the Iranian government imposed a media blackout, Twitter messages and YouTube videos still got through, so journalists who monitored them were able to pick up information they could not get otherwise.

Social networks already have made a difference in the coverage of many major news stories, and we expect them to play an even bigger role as more journalists and news organizations recognize how valuable social networks are and learn how best to use them.

Another incident that showed the importance of social networking, according to bloggers, was the emergency landing of a US Airways plane   in the Hudson River in New York in January 2009. The first pictures of the plane appeared on Twitter.

The act of Social Media in a changing world is briefly to get a world without rules and controls, without borders or boundaries; a world where anything is possible, Experts concluded.
